The next generation of public mobile communications evolution (5G) is being born and upon us. As expected, it will be bigger, better, faster, more spectrally efficient, more mobile, have less latency, have greater connection density and will concentrate on a greater number of dimensions around user requirements and experience. Given these factors, the emerging market expects even greater degrees of automation and integration of services in the wider community (eg, connected and smart city, vehicle automation, IoT, further integration with emergency services and PSMB). The latest buzzword is ‘synchronised reality’, implying an upgrade from ‘virtual’ to ‘real’ and an ‘ongoing dependence’ on a more fully integrated existence and experience. This session will look at current trends and future likely outcomes in 5G.
